Honorable Governor praised Administrative and academic steps at GSCWU

Rafique Rajwana Governor Punjab/Chancellor has said that universities in Southern Punjab are playing a vital role in socio economic development of the region. Newly established women universities in Multan and Bahawalpur reflect priority of the government in welfare and development of local women folk. The Governor was exchanging views with Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur at Governor House Lahore. The Governor said that he is keen about development of these universities and will soon visit to review and academic and development activities and solve various problems. He added that higher education sector is the top priority of both federal and provincial governments and laptop scheme, fee reimbursement program and PEEF scholarships are a few examples of measure taken for student’s welfare. On this occasion Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq briefed the Chancellor about various administrative and academic steps taken at Government Sadiq College Women University since assuming of additional responsibility as Vice Chancellor on January 27 2015.He apprised that the Higher Education Commission has recently issued provisional NOC to the university .The Finance and Planning Committee has prepared the annual budget to be submitted to syndicate for approval. Constituent bodies like selection boards, board of faculties, academic council and departmental boards of studies have been established. New semester calendar and semester rules have been implemented. A state of the art and modern online admission system has been framed and degree of the university is also designed. Delayed matters of salaries of visiting faculty, extension in contract of non teaching employees and new salary structure as per basic pay scale have been resolved and appointment of PhD faculty is also under way. A new department of estate care and space management is also established. New academic block and cafeteria is also complete. The Governor appreciated these steps taken in a short period of time and assured his full support for development of the Women University of Bahawalpur. The Vice Chancellor also briefed the Governor/Chancellor about various matters of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
