The Government Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) Bahawalpur, established by Nawab Sir Sadiq Khan Abbasi V in 1944 as an intermediate college for women, has a rich legacy of evolution and progress. It became a degree college in 1957, a postgraduate college in 2010, and was officially elevated to university status through Act VIII of 2013, passed by the Punjab Assembly and approved by the Governor on January 3, 2013.
