Sports Club
The role of sports and games is fundamental to personality development and the process of socialization. Health and physical fitness are essential for success in life. Being a member of a sports team develops coordination, cooperation, sportsmanship, and tolerance. The Sports Club of GSCWU actively encourages students to participate in various sports and games. Through regular physical activities, students develop competitive spirit, discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills while maintaining a healthy balance between academic and extracurricular life.
Urdu Debating and Dramatic Society
The Urdu Debating and Dramatic Society provides an excellent platform for young writers, debaters, speakers, singers, and poets to showcase their talents. Students regularly participate in declamation contests, essay writing competitions, poetry recitals, and dramatic performances. The society has earned recognition through outstanding achievements in various competitions, including the Chief Minister's Declamation and Essay Writing Programs and the Allama Iqbal Shield Declamation Contest.
English Debating and Dramatic Society
The English Debating and Dramatic Society organizes debates, speeches, dramatic performances, and literary activities throughout the academic year. It nurtures students' abilities in public speaking, essay writing, acting, and communication skills. Students have successfully staged renowned literary works, including A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen, Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, The Bear by Anton Chekhov, and Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. The society also conducts debate and declamation competitions, where students have won awards at district and divisional levels.
University Magazine Society
The University Magazine Society is responsible for publishing the university's literary magazine, showcasing the intellectual and creative contributions of both students and faculty members. The magazine, formerly known as Khama-e-Sehra (The Pen of the Desert), features English and Urdu literature, including poetry, fiction, essays, travelogues, humorous writings, and research articles. Students from all academic departments are encouraged to contribute their original work, promoting creativity and literary excellence.
Nazrya-e-Pakistan Society
The Nazrya-e-Pakistan Society promotes patriotism and national awareness among students. It commemorates significant national events and the contributions of Pakistan's founding leaders through seminars, quizzes, speeches, skits, and cultural programs. The society aims to strengthen students' understanding of Pakistan's ideology, history, and national values while encouraging active participation in national celebrations.
Art and Craft Exhibitions
The Department of Fashion, Art, and Design regularly organizes cultural events and art and craft exhibitions to preserve and promote the rich artistic heritage of the Bahawalpur region. These exhibitions provide students with opportunities to display their creativity, artistic talent, and innovative designs while encouraging appreciation for traditional and contemporary art forms.
Floral Contests
Floral Contests are organized under the Departments of Home Economics and Fashion, Art, and Design. Students demonstrate their creativity by preparing artistic floral arrangements using both fresh and dried flowers. These competitions enhance aesthetic sense, creativity, and design skills while preparing students for careers in floral decoration, event management, and interior decoration.
Culinary Arts Contests
The Culinary Arts Contests, organized by the Department of Home Economics, provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their expertise in cooking, food preservation, food presentation, and nutrition. Participants learn modern culinary techniques, food safety, garnishing, and presentation skills, enabling them to pursue professional careers in hospitality and culinary arts.
Plantation Week Celebration
The Plantation Week Celebration is organized by the Department of Botany in collaboration with the Agriculture and Forest Departments. Students and faculty actively participate in tree plantation campaigns by planting fruit trees and ornamental plants throughout the university campus. The activity promotes environmental awareness, sustainability, and the importance of conserving natural resources.
Exhibition of Home Textile and Fashion Design
The Exhibition of Home Textile and Fashion Design showcases the creative work of students from the Department of Home Economics and the Department of Fashion, Art, and Design. Students display a wide range of handcrafted household textiles, embroidery, decorative items, garments, and innovative fashion designs. These exhibitions provide practical experience, enhance entrepreneurial skills, and prepare students for professional careers in textile, fashion, and interior design industries.
